How to use the home energy check
On the next page, we'll ask you to enter your postcode and address. This lets us make some assumptions about the type of home you have, including the materials used and heating system it has. The home energy check will then automatically pull through some information that we already know about your property. If you think this information is wrong - for example if changes have been made to your property recently, or if you know that it was built at a different time than we specify - you can change it.
Once you've filled in all of the details we ask for, the home energy check will provide some recommendations tailored to your home, based on the information you've given us.
Important information about using the home energy check
Every home is different and we make a number of assumptions about you and your home when we put together this advice. It's important that you use this advice only as an indication of improvements that may be suitable for your home. You should get in touch with us or speak to reputable, expert installers or energy assessors before deciding to invest in any new energy-saving improvements.
We calculate our energy-saving figures on the basis that home improvements are correctly installed and maintained. The amount of heat you use, your appliance use and your type of fuel bills will affect how much you save from different improvements. We also assume that, after making the improvements, you keep your heating at the same levels.
